ATC Tutor Registration Form
New Tutors should complete the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) registration form below and the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) volunteer application that follows. The submission of the ACPS application triggers a background check good for 12 months. Please call ATC's Executive Director at 703-549-6670, ext. 119 if you need help completing the ATC forms.
When your background check is complete, Linda Rodriguez of ACPS will notify you. Please make an appointment to visit the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) office at the ACPS central office, 1340 Braddock Place, 7th floor to verify your identification (bring a driver's license or government-issued identification) and to receive a volunteer badge. You will be asked to sign an "ACPS Volunteer Code of Conduct". Office hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Returning Tutors should complete the ATC registration form. The former ACPS background check good for two years is now an annual check. Volunteers are notified by ACPS about one month before the expiration of their approval date and a request made to run a new check. To continue to volunteer, you must respond with written consent; it is helpful to provide the number on the back of your badge. A new "ACPS Code of Conduct will be sent to you to sign and return. If it has been more than 11 months since your badge was approved and you have not heard from ACPS, email a request with your name and badge number to Linda Rodriguez, as noted below.
Once your background check is approved, your badge will be re-validated for another 12 months. You do not need to re-visit the FACE office.
