Due to the coronavirus school closures, more kids than ever will need reading help. Click here to help us reach them!
Please support ATC between now and April 15 for Spring2ACTion, a 24-hour online giving event held annually to raise funds for all participating charitable organizations in Alexandria. We know that Alexandria’s kids are going to need reading help more than ever once they return to school, and we want to serve as many of them as possible. Thank you for helping us make that happen!
Firefighter Rick of the Alexandria Fire Department joined Reading Readiness students and tutors at John Adams to celebrate Read Across America Day! Firefighter Rick read Clifford The Firehouse Dog and discussed the importance of reading and of fire safety. Students learned to stop, drop and roll, and they were really excited to have such a special guest!
Over 180 volunteer tutors are working in nine Alexandria City Public Schools right now, helping children learn to read. Kindergartners are mastering their letters and first graders are sounding out more and more words as we close in on the end of the 2nd quarter. Keep up the terrific work, everyone!
